FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method for controlling stimuli for delivery to a subject is provided by a system for delivering stimuli that prompt the subject to fall asleep. Method comprises generating, by sensors, output signals conveying information on parameters associated with brain activity of the subject. Determining, by a processor, a first and a second spectral parameter that indicates power in a first and a second frequency band, respectively. First and second spectral parameters are based on the generated output signals. Average frequency of the first frequency band is higher than the average frequency of the second frequency band. Intensity of the stimulus delivered to the subject is determined based on the first and second spectral parameters. Source of stimulus is controlled by adjusting the intensity of the stimulus. Frequency of adjustment is adjusted to provide feedback to the subject, which is perceived as a response to the subject's efforts to change own brain activity.
EFFECT: shorter time for the subject to fall asleep.
