SUBSTANCE: system for providing light treatment to an individual when the individual is asleep, comprises a sleep mask comprising an individual's eye protection screen, a head attachment to fasten the screen on the individual's face, light units mounted in the screen to provide emission to the individual's eyes, EEG electrodes mounted in the screen and/or head attachment, and a processor (42) interacting with the light units and EEG electrodes. The processor controls the light units to generate the emission, receives output signals from the EEG electrodes and adjusts the light treatment parameters on the basis of the received output signals. The lower surface of the screen is directed towards the individual when in use. A cushion layer formed on the lower surface of the screen is formed of a conductive foam material, forms the surface closest to the individual and contacts the individual's face when in use. The electrodes are formed by the cushion layer. The processor adjusts light treatment parameters by controlling the light units to generate the emission at the first intensity if the output signals indicate that the individual is in rapid eye movement sleep, and at the second intensity if the output signals indicate that the individual is not in rapid eye movement sleep; the first intensity is less than the second intensity.

EFFECT: light treatment regimens dynamically adjusted in relation to sleep and higher comfort of the use of the system for the individual.
