ADJUSTMENT OF SENSORY STIMULATION INTENSITY TO ENHANCE SLEEP SLOW WAVE ACTIVITY Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B5/482 A61M21/02

Abstract RU 2677008 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine and can be used to control a subject’s current sleep session. Group of inventions is represented by systems and method of controlling the current sleep session of subject (12). Control system (10) comprises one or more sensory stimulators (16), one or more sensors (18), and one or more processors (20). Computer program modules comprise sleep stage module (32), slow-wave sleep timing module (33), control module (34), efficiency module (36) and adjustment module (38). Output signals about the current stage of the subject's sleep are generated. Current sleep stage of the subject is determined. It is determined whether the subject is currently in slow-wave sleep. Separate periods of slow-wave sleep during the current sleep session are determined. One or more sensory stimulators are controlled to provide sensory stimuli of a given intensity to the subject for separate periods of slow-wave sleep. Effectiveness of the sensory stimuli provided is determined. One or more sensory stimulators are instructed to increase the intensity of sensory stimuli provided on the basis of the determined efficiency. Determination of the efficiency and increase in the intensity of one or more times during separate periods of time of slow-wave sleep are repeated. One or more sensory stimulators are instructed to increase the intensity of sensory stimuli provided to the third intensity level or to stop providing sensory stimulation to the subject in response to the awakening level.

EFFECT: group of inventions enables to efficiency manage the subject’s current sleep session due to the ability to generate output signals that carry direct or indirect information about the current sleep session, determine separate periods of slow-wave sleep, which begin and end after a predetermined time, determine the efficiency and increase or decrease of the intensity.
