FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to systems and methods for the phototherapy of a sleeping patient. The system comprises lighting units emitting light on the patient's eyes, sensors and a processor. The sensors form output signals containing the patient's eyelid position information. The processor receives the output signals from the sensors and controls the lighting units. The lighting units generate emission on the patient's eyes at a pre-set moment of time at an intensity determined by the patient's eyelid position at the pre-set moment of time. The output signals from the sensors indicate the patient's eyelid position - if they are open or closed. The processor controls the lighting units so that to generate the emission on the patient's eyes at the first intensity at the pre-set moment of time, when the signals from the sensors indicate that the patient's eyelids are closed at the pre-set moment of time and to generate the emission on the patient's eyes at the second intensity at the pre-set moment of time, when the signals from the sensors indicate that the patient's eyelids are open at the pre-set moment of time.
EFFECT: using the invention provides the higher efficacy of phototherapy.
