SUBSTANCE: invention relates to visual aids for studying the structure of electronic zones of a solid body. Of the metal being studied, electrodes are made, differing in volume, exceeding 1 mm3, each electrode is brought into contact with the ionic liquid, the electrode potential is recorded, the surface tension of the electrode is determined from the surface charge density of the electrode as a function of the electrode potential, the potential region corresponding to the positive charge of the electrode is determined, and in this region a sequence of steps is found in the obtained function, which is considered as the image of a sequence of discrete states of the conduction band of a metal, the same number of electrode potentials are compared with the number of steps found on electrodes of different volumes, the coincidence of the found step numbers is interpreted as a sign of the independence of the intervals between the discrete states of the conduction band of a metal from the volume occupied by this metal. Electrode block includes the electrode to be tested attached to the piezoelectric element and wetted with an ionic liquid in the reservoir.
EFFECT: electrode to be investigated is supplemented with a loop connected to it, which is designed to reduce the volume of the electrode while keeping the contacts of the electrode under investigation with the piezoelectric element and with the ionic liquid unchanged.
