FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the protection of elements made of refractory composite materials containing silicon, in particular SiC with fiber reinforcement. Elements are hot parts of gas turbines, such as combustion chamber walls, or gas turbine rings, or turbine nozzles, or turbine blades for aircraft engines or industrial turbines. Element including a substrate containing silicon is protected with a protective material from the action of the medium formed on the surface of the substrate and having at least a self-reducing layer which is formed from at least 90 mol% a system containing 30-80 mol% of at least one rare earth silicate RE2Si2O7, and 20-70 mol% of manganese oxide; and not more than 10 mol% of one or more oxides other than MnO having a eutectic temperature with SiO2, less than or equal to 1595°C. RE is selected from yttrium, scandium and lanthanides. Self-healing layer representing the liquid phase has a self-healing function in the temperature range 1200-1400°C while retaining most of the solid phase.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is to provide protection of the element against the influence of an aggressive environment and temperature up to 1400°C.
