FIELD: metallurgy; technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrometallurgy, namely, to special electrofusion processes using electroslag remelting (ESR) and to obtaining a hollow billet using bismuth powder. Method includes vertical surfacing in the water-cooled crystallizer of the consumable electrode. In the liquid slag bath during the entire remelting process, bismuth powder is fed, which is pre-sieved to a fraction no larger than 3 mm and calcined at a temperature of 150 °C for 3 hours, and subjected to melting simultaneously with the consumable electrode, with its crystallization in the center of the preform, the resulting preform is placed in a heating furnace, placed horizontally on a container with stops, are subjected to a thermal treatment at a temperature of 300 °C for 2 hours with the outflow of molten bismuth during the heat treatment from the preform to form the cavity of the preform.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain hollow billets by the ESR method using a simplified technological chain, with the exception of additional equipment and a reduction in the cost of production.
