FIELD: research technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to research of quasi-isentropic compressibility of gases in megabar pressure range. Method implemented in cylindrical device containing charge of explosive, enclosing body with cavity for test gas, inside which additional shell is placed coaxially to body, and along device axis there is cylindrical metal rod, includes quasi-isentropic loading of gas located in internal coaxial cavity of the device, fixation of shell motion, compressing gas under investigation, determining dimensions of shell and rod at the time of maximum gas compression. Feature of method is use of rod from reference material with known shock adiabat and cold compression curve. On the basis of shock adiabat, cold curve of rod compression, and values of inner radius of shell and outer radius of rod measured in experimental conditions, average pressure and average density of gas under investigation are determined.
EFFECT: simultaneous experimental determination of pressures and densities realized in devices of quasi-isentropic loading (compression).
