SUBSTANCE: beverage dispensing unit comprising base portion (11), support plate (11), peripheral wall (11c) jutting out of the bottom of the support plate and extending along the perimeter of said support plate and defining with said bottom surface (11b) an inner volume of the base portion, source of pressurized gas (7) in the inner volume of the base portion, and means for connecting said source of gas to the interior of beverage container (8), located outside the inner volume of the base portion; and elongated tapping column (1) extending substantially perpendicular to the top surface (11a) of the base portion, comprising elongated inner channel (2) bringing in fluid communication the inner volume with a tapping valve head (3), located at the opposite top, outlet end of the elongated tapping column.

EFFECT: height of peripheral wall (11c) is such that the beverage dispensing unit is suitable for standing on the top surface of a counter or worktop (20) in pubs and restaurants.
