SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for painting a vehicle body in manual, automatic and mixed modes on an assembly line. Method includes steps of applying a phosphate base, painting by cathodic electrodeposition, applying a sealant, depositing a filler, while in the assembly line, the final line of the printheads for digitally printing an image directly on a vehicle body is provided and digital printing is performed, using a car paint (solvent-based or water-based), such as eco-solvent paint and ultraviolet-cured inks, with the use of at least two printheads capable of using different types of car paints and simultaneously applying different color shades. Technical result is provision of fast (from 0.8 to 1.2 min per vehicle unit) application of paint on a vehicle body, outside appearance of which is chosen by the customer, including an arbitrary image on the outer surface of the body, in a single technological cycle in a batch production.
