SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for monitoring the operation of a coolant heater of a motor vehicle thermal engine, wherein the liquid circulates in a cooling circuit, wherein the temperature of the liquid coolant in the circuit is measured, according to the invention, coolant temperature is simulated in the control body based on the heater operating parameters, wherein simulated temperature (1a) is then compared with measured coolant temperature (4) and, depending on said comparison, diagnosis (6, 7) of the heater operation is established.

EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the efficiency of monitoring the operation of the coolant heater.
