FIELD: psychophysiology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to neurocognitive technologies, namely, a method for evaluating linguistic abilities using real-time eye movement recording techniques. Present at least three series of 4–6 pairs of words to the subject, where each pair consists of the word of the native language and the pseudo-word of the foreign language. After the presentation of each series, a memory test is performed by presenting the words of the native language and the corresponding list of words in a foreign language, including a pseudo-word in the form of a correct answer and three distractors containing a phonetic, graphic, phonetic and graphic errors, with the subsequent determination of the value of the memory efficiency by the mathematical formula. In the process of presenting pairs of words, the movement of the eyes with fixation of periods of the pupil's immobility more than 0.2 s within the boundaries of the region corresponding to the word in the native language and the region corresponding to the word in a foreign language are examined. After that, the value of the coefficient characterizing the pupil's residence time is determined. Depending on the resulting values of the coefficients, a conclusion is drawn about a high or low level of ability to memorize foreign words.
EFFECT: method allows, through the use of indicators of eye movements, to determine the way of cognitive processing of foreign language material and to assess the ability to learn foreign languages.
