FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of magnetically responsive sorbents used in the purification of liquid and gaseous media. Proposed is a method for producing an adsorbent that comprises mixing a carbon-containing component selected from hydrolytic lignin or sawdust with an iron-containing component, followed by pyrolysis of the mixture while the released vapor gases are held in the atmosphere. As an iron-containing component, iron (III) oxide powder is fed for mixing, mixing is carried out based on the calculation of the weight ratio of the absolutely dry carbon-containing component and iron (III) oxide equal to 1:(0.1–0.6). Mixture is placed in the oven preheated to 600–1000 °C and held in the oven for 5–60 minutes.
EFFECT: invention provides a sorbent with adsorption activity in iodine up to 1000–1600 mg/g, in methylene blue up to 400–500 mg/g and saturation magnetization up to 100–150 A*m2/kg.
