SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular to the compositions of friction materials. Can be used to produce products designed to work in brake devices. Iron-based friction material contains, by mass%: copper 17.0–20.0; carbon 4.0–5.0; silica 2.0–4.0; barium sulphate 5.5–6.5; boron 0.05–0.1; silver 0.05–0.1; cobalt 5.5–6.5; rest is iron.
EFFECT: friction material has a high wear resistance.
