FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to treatment of metals by pressure and can be used to produce blanks with a fine-grained structure. Workpiece made with faces is deformed at least in one cycle without changing after the cycle of changing its cross-sectional shape. Deformation cycle includes first workpiece twisting operation, second work step of settling the twisted workpiece and a final pressing operation. Before the first torsion operation the workpiece is heated. Operation of settling is carried out in closed stamp, while resting on its walls the vertices of the twisted blank formed by its faces. To produce the workpiece a device is used that includes an inductor for heating, stationary mandrel, bushing for twisting the workpiece, closed stamp for settling the twisted workpiece, stamp for pressing. Rod is provided ensuring movement of the heated billet into a stationary mandrel and bushing, and the twisted workpiece into a closed stamp.
EFFECT: as a result the technological capabilities of the method and the reliability of the equipment used are increased.
