FIELD: shipbuilding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of shipbuilding, in particular to ships operating in ice conditions. Icebreaking vessel is proposed that includes a hull with bottom (2), bow part (3) and stern part (4). Bow part (3) includes forward inclined upper bow portion (31), bulbous lower bow portion (33), and intermediate bow portion (32). Vessel is designed with construction water line (W1), upper ice water line (W3) and lower ice water line (W2). In order to improve the icebreaking capacity of the vessel, an upper surface of bulbous lower bow portion (33) is arranged to be at or in the vicinity of the water surface when the vessel operates at construction water line (W1) of the vessel. When the vessel operates at lower ice water line (W2) a lower surface of bulbous lower bow portion (33) is arranged to penetrate the water surface. When the vessel operates at upper ice water line (W3) forward inclined upper bow portion (31) is arranged to penetrate the water surface. Invention also relates to method for operating the icebreaking vessel.
EFFECT: technical result is to increase the operational efficiency of the icebreaking vessel.
