SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the use of a water vapour barrier, as well as to a structural element comprising said barrier. Barrier used is films, fabrics or layers of material P. Material P comprises at least one copolymer A, which is a polyamide of the type PAXY/XAISMn+1/n, in particular PA66/6AISMn+1/n, more specifically PA66/6AISLi and/or PA66/6AISNa, or type PAZ/XAISMn+1/n, or consists of at least one copolymer A, where: X, Y and Z are, independently of one another, integers ranging from 3 to 36, preferably from 4 to 18 and especially from 4 to 12; n in Mn+1/n denotes charge M, and M is Li+, Na+, K+, Ag+, Cu+, Cu2+ Zn2+, Mn2+, Mg2+, Fe2+, Fe3+, Al3+, NH4+ and/or phosphonium, in particular Li+ and / or Na+ and especially Li+; AIS is a residue derived from 5-sulfoisophthalic acid; and optionally in combination with a carrier and / or an adhesive.

EFFECT: technical result consists in the development of a barrier that allows to eliminate low vapour permeability at low humidity and high vapour permeability at a high humidity level.
