FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for producing highly enriched zirconium isotopes from waste generated after reprocessing of irradiated nuclear fuel or from a natural mixture of zirconium isotopes. Method comprises heating zirconium tetrachloride, treating it with hydrogen fluoride gas, cooling, grinding the obtained zirconium tetrafluoride into a powder, mixing with distilled water and extraction of zirconium from an aqueous solution where perfluorodecalin is used as the extractant.
EFFECT: invention provides significant amounts of highly enriched 99.0 % stable isotope 90Zr and low power consumption, as well as the possibility of constructing cascades with a high separation factor and extraction of the target isotope with minimal losses.
