FIELD: grinding; polishing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and can be used for centerless grinding of shaft parts, in particular pipes for composite cam shafts having axial centering elements on their end faces. Method includes grinding the shaft part in the gap between the grinding and feeding wheels and driving it into rotation. Use grinding and feeding wheels, the width of which corresponds at least to the length of the shaft part. First, on the shaft part in its end zones, concentric with respect to the centering elements, the polishing is carried out, and then the intermediate zone is located between the end zones, then grind the whole shaft part to the final size with the mass and shape preserved on the basis of the concentricity of the relatively centered elements of the sub-grinding at the end zones of the shaft part adjacent to the support rail.
EFFECT: result is increased accuracy of grinding the shaft part.
