INTERCHANGEABLE SHAFT ASSEMBLIES FOR USE WITH SURGICAL INSTRUMENT Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61B17/72

Abstract RU 2661139 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment. Shaft assembly comprises: a shaft frame; a fastening module configured to releasably couple to a portion of the frame in a direction substantially transverse to the activation axis; and an end effector, operably connected to the distal end of the shaft frame. End effector comprises: a surgical staple cartridge; and an anvil movably supported relative to the surgical staple cartridge. Interchangeable end effector shaft assembly includes an external shaft assembly with a distal end configured to apply the control movements to the anvil. External shaft assembly includes a proximal end configured to be functionally detachable and directly connected to the output drive of the first one of the drive systems in a direction transverse to the activation axis. External shaft assembly and the output drive of the first drive system have a common drive axis. Firing shaft assembly includes a distal cutting portion configured to move between an initial position and an end position within the end effector. Distal portion of the articulation of the external shaft assembly is connected to the end effector to facilitate articulation of the end effector relative to the proximal portion of articulation in response to the articulation movements applied thereto.

EFFECT: invention can be used with a surgical instrument that includes a frame and drive systems.
