DRIVE SYSTEM LOCKOUT ARRANGEMENTS FOR MODULAR SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61B17/72

Abstract RU 2675960 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment. Surgical instrument comprises a housing, a drive system, an interchangeable shaft assembly and a lockout assembly. Drive system is held by the housing and comprises a selectively actuated fastening element for generating control movements when it is actuated and defines an actuation axis. Interchangeable shaft assembly comprises a proximal end for detachable connection with the fastening element of the drive system and the housing in a direction transverse to the actuation axis. Interchangeable shaft assembly comprises an axially movable drive shaft for transmitting control movements from the drive system to the surgical end effector, functionally connected to the distal end of the interchangeable shaft assembly. Proximal slot segment of the lockout assembly in the housing is used to receive the fastening element in it before attaching the interchangeable shaft assembly to the housing. Distal slot segment of the lockout assembly in the interchangeable shaft assembly is connected to the proximal slot segment for passage of fastening element from the proximal slot segment to the distal slot segment when the proximal end of the interchangeable shaft assembly is attached to the housing to actuate the drive system, while preventing the generation of control movements by the drive system until the proximal end of the interchangeable shaft assembly is functionally connected to the fastening element.

EFFECT: surgical instrument for laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical procedures is provided.
