FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment. System for controlling a manual surgical instrument comprises a motor, a controller, a sensor and input keys. Motor drives a firing member during a firing stroke. Controller is designed for controlling said motor during a firing stroke, during advancement and retraction. Sensor enables to detect a force on the firing member. Sensor and controller are in signal communication. Controller pauses the firing stroke when the sensor detects a force on the firing member that exceeds a threshold force. Input keys and controller are in signal communication. Once the controller pauses the firing stroke, the controller initiates a retracting state when the second input key is activated. After receiving feedback from the surgical instrument, the operator can decide how to continue working - in a warning working condition or in a modified working condition.
EFFECT: present invention relates to surgical instruments and, in various embodiments, to surgical cutting and stapling instruments and staple cartridges therefor that are designed to cut and staple tissue.
