FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: staple cartridge comprises a body with staples and a tissue thickness compensator, comprising a compressible portion. Staples are configured to capture at least a portion of said compressible portion therein when said staples are moved from an unfired position to a fired position. Compressible portion comprises a proximal end and a distal end and a severable rigid support portion that extends longitudinally through the compressible portion. Rigid support portion is configured to resist the movement of said proximal end relative to said distal end and comprises an attachment member. Attachment member extends from the proximal or distal end of the compressible portion. Cartridge body further comprises a first fastening portion which is designed to detachably attach the attachment to the cartridge body.
EFFECT: invention relates to medical equipment and can be used for suturing.
