FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: piston is designed to convert fluid pressure into reciprocating motion of the piston. Piston comprises an inner chamber, and an annular groove communicating with the chamber. At least a portion of the chamber must be substantially filled with fluid. Piston also comprises a piston ring disposed in the chamber and the groove. Fluid is designed to exert a first pressure to the piston ring so that the piston ring exerts a second pressure against the wall of the cylinder. Second pressure should be greater than the first pressure.
EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the reliability of sealing of the piston-cylinder pair.
