SUBSTANCE: invention relates to noise-filling means for multi-channel audio coding. Method comprises identifying first scale factor bands of a spectrum of a first channel of a current frame of a multichannel audio signal, within which all spectral lines are quantised to zero, and second scale factor bands of the spectrum, within which at least one spectral line is quantised to non-zero. Spectral lines within a predetermined scale factor band of the first scale factor bands are filled with noise generated using downmix spectral lines of a previous frame of a multichannel audio signal, with adjustment of the level of the noise using a scale factor of the predetermined scale factor band. Spectral lines within the second scale factor bands are dequantised using scale factors of the second scale factor bands.

EFFECT: technical result is higher coding efficiency at low bit rates.
