SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to agriculture and remote sounding of the earth. Method for measuring the density index of vegetation is realized using an image fixing device located on an aircraft, wherein the image capturing device comprises a system of spectral filters and is that it obtains image data of the subject in RGB range, data are processed using a filtering system in which the red channel (R) of the images is digitized by near infrared (NIR) range, and the image data in green (G) and blue channels (B) is left unchanged or the image in the G channel is deleted. Its geolocation coordinates at the time of receiving images of the subject are fixed using the navigation device of the aircraft, received images are assigned coordinates synchronized with the time of obtaining the image frame with the current position of the aircraft. At least one density index of vegetation is calculated as the difference between the intensities of reflected light in visible and infrared range divided by the sum of their intensities, common map of the resulting index is formed based on the processed images of the subject.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reducing the calculation time of the vegetation density index while maintaining a high level of measurement accuracy.
