FIELD: computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering, namely to technology of determining parameters of forest by means of its preliminary survey from unmanned aerial vehicles. Method for determining parameters of a forest massif, in which a forest area is surveyed from an unmanned aircraft using a multispectral camera with at least four channels and a digital RGB camera, followed by obtaining images of the forest area from the multispectral camera and images of the forest area from the digital RGB camera, information on images of a forest area, photogrammetric processing of images is carried out with subsequent construction of an orthophotomap and a point cloud on the basis of images from a multispectral camera for each of their channels and obtaining an orthophotomap and a point cloud based on the images from the digital RGB camera. Based on the point cloud constructed from the RGB images, a digital terrain model and a digital elevation model are constructed, the heights of the tree stand are corrected relative to the relief features, individual trees are searched, a set of features of a specific tree is supplied to the input of a pre-trained machine learning model for tree species prediction, followed by obtaining a set of tops and crowns of trees with assigned class marks indicating the tree species.
EFFECT: automation of the process of determining parameters of a forest massif, such as species composition and other characteristics, including assessment of timber stock, as well as high accuracy of their determination based on data from the aerial photographic surveying.
