FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, specifically to ophthalmology. To form a locomotor stump by implanting an orbital implant in a rabbit, enucleate the eyeball with all oculomotor muscles allocated in a gentle manner, eliminating the risk of massive bleeding. At the same time, the upper oblique, superior rectus and inferior rectus oculomotor muscles are sewed together above the anterior surface of the orbital implant at an angle of 120° to each other and fixed to the implant. Oculomotor muscles after sewing together are fixed with U-shaped seams to the orbital implant in the case of the presence of elements in its construction for their sewing. If the orbital implant has an element for fixing the lower pole, then during implantation, its lower pole is fixed with U-shaped seams to the orbital tissues.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to use the rabbit's orbit as an experimental model for studying the reaction of body tissues to various orbital implants for post-enucleation reconstruction, and also to perform surgical treatment with implantation of the orbital implant after enucleation of the eyeball in rabbits for medical indications in veterinary practice.
