FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method for controlling electric motors for periods of time when power supply is unreliable, for example during starting of the main engine. Method comprises monitoring voltage of power supplied to the motor by a mircrocontroller located in the motor. Energy is stored within the motor. It is detected if the voltage drops below a nonzero threshold. If the voltage drops below the threshold, the microcontroller is immediately operated with the stored energy to store a state of the motor in non-volatile memory located within the motor, and operation of the motor is ceased. Electric motor and a method of operating an electric motor are also proposed. Electric motors do not operate during periods when they may interfere with motor restart events during start / stop.
EFFECT: ensuring that the electric motor operates correctly after the voltage of the electric power supply source of the motor is interrupted.
