SUBSTANCE: invention relates to shipbuilding and concerns operation of ships and vessels in ice conditions. Method is proposed for movement of a ship or vessel in ice, consisting in the fact that in the bow of the ship or vessel there is a device that is a cylindrical roller with injectors on the generators mounted on the frame in front of the bow, which preliminarily cuts the ice field onto the plates all along its depth with a high-pressure water jet, and then the ship or ship tugs to the ice crust chopped plates while moving along the route.

EFFECT: invention allows to improve the patency of a ship or ship in ice, improve the safety of navigation in ice conditions.
