FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture and can be used to predict individual growth rates of young sheep. Bioelectric potential is measured on any part of the sheep's body with a single electrode. If the bioelectric potential is from 2.5 to 10 mV, intensive growth is predicted. If the bioelectric potential is from 20 to 60 mV, slow growth is predicted. Bioelectric potential of 10 to 20 mV corresponds to the transition period from intensive to slow growth or from slow to intensive growth.
EFFECT: method provides increased efficiency and accuracy of determining the rates and nature of growth of farm animals in accordance with the biological characteristics of a particular animal by measuring the objective bioelectric index.
