FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering and can be used in devices controlling the position of the engine. Position estimation method includes: a signal detection step in which each of N (where N is an integer of 3 or more) of the sensors detects a magnetic field, which corresponds to the position of the moving part and outputs the detection signal as an electrical signal, wherein the detection signals are phase-shifted by an angle obtained by dividing 360 degrees by N; an intersection detection step in which the intersection detecting section sequentially detects an intersection in which each detection signal outputted in the signal detecting step crosses the other; a detection step in which the detection section detects a portion of the detection signal, which connects from the intersection to the other intersection, which is adjacent to this intersection, as one or more subdivision signals; and a link segment of the line segments in which the line segment connection section sequentially connects the branch signals and evaluates the position of the moving part based on the multiple connected unit signals to generate the estimated position value signal.

EFFECT: technical result is to improve the accuracy of position detection.
