SUBSTANCE: invention relates to encoding/decoding video. Image encoding method in which an image comprises a plurality of blocks of an encoding tree consisting of pixel blocks, wherein each pixel block is coded according to a mode of a plurality of modes, one such mode being a mode, in which the block is coded based on the predictor block being the block of the current image, the method comprising the step of determining a search area for the above-mentioned one mode as the region formed by the reconstructed blocks of the current block of the encoding tree and the blocks of the encoding tree having the coordinates (X, Y), where Y≤Y0 and (X-X0) ≤ -(Y-Y0), where X is the horizontal coordinate, Y is the vertical coordinate, the origin is in the upper left corner of the image, a (X0, Y0) are the coordinates of the current block of the encoding tree.
EFFECT: providing the possibility of performing parallel processing of wave fronts when encoding / decoding the image by determining the region from which the predictor block can be obtained.
