FIELD: video encoding.
SUBSTANCE: it is determined that the prediction mode is applied to the current video block. For the current video block, a buffer is maintained that contains reference samples determined from blocks of sample values of the same video area of the current video block in the current image. Predicted samples are generated based on the specified definition. Conversion is performed between the current video block and the data bit stream. In this prediction mode, reference samples defined by a block vector in the buffer are used to obtain predicted samples of the current video block. A particular reference block in the buffer that is marked as unavailable for retrieval has values outside the range of pixel values. The values of the reference samples in the specified specific reference block, marked as unavailable, are set to a specified value of -1, which indicates that the specified samples are unavailable.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of video coding.
