FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to the method for analyzing blood serum (BS) of patients and can be used in clinical laboratory diagnostics to determine the metabolic products of bacteria. To do this, the determination of aromatic microbial metabolites in the form of phenylcarboxylic acids (PCA) is carried out in BS samples of patients. Method comprises recovering the PCA from an acidified blood serum solution by micro-sorption concentration in a syringe filled with C18 bonded phase silica gel, eluting them with diethyl ether, evaporation of the eluate to dryness, derivatization using N,O-bis(trimethylsilyl)trifluoroacetamide, and analysis of the resulting trimethylsilyl derivatives by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.
EFFECT: claimed invention makes it possible to determine the PCA content in the patient's blood serum to determine the severity of patient condition with an infection of bacterial etiology or sepsis.
