FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy and can be used to treat metal waste containing hazardous, contaminated or toxic fractions that are intended for long-term storage. Induction melting furnace comprises an annular metal shell surrounded by an inductor, said shell being formed with channels for cooling fluid and divided into sectors separated by electrically insulating layers, a sole located under the shell and a crucible located thereon, located inside the shell with clearance. Crucible is made solid and uniform along the circumference and consists of an annular side wall and a bottom connected thereto, which comprise three concentric layers including an inner refractory layer, an intermediate layer made of a compressible material and an outer metallic layer.
EFFECT: invention prolongs the service life of the melting furnace shell by using a crucible replaced after each melting, and also by keeping the waste in the crucible before solidification thereof, enables to remove vapours before the crucible is extracted, in addition, to store the waste in the form of an ingot, without removing it from the crucible.
