FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of chemistry and technology for the production of alumina powders for the manufacture of structural and functional ceramics based on aluminium oxide, catalysts, and also in the production of leucosapphire. Method comprises electrolytically dissolving aluminum to form an aqueous solution of aluminum hydroxide complexes of aluminum of composition Alx(NO3)3(OH)3(x-1)⋅nH2O, where 2≤x≤4, which are then dried and calcined to form aluminum oxide powders of the necessary impurity, phase and granulometric composition.
EFFECT: it is possible to produce especially pure aluminum oxide powders having a uniform and predetermined particle size distribution, which improves the caking capacity of ceramics of aluminum oxide powders and the reproducibility of the characteristics of the final products.
