FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to overvoltage protection with spark gap (9) and laser (210) for igniting a spark gap. Laser (210) is connected to input (226) of stretching optical element (218), which serves to temporarily stretch laser pulses (310) generated by the laser. Output (230) of stretch element (218) is connected to one end of optical transmission fiber (15'), in particular with one end of light guide (15'). Second end of transmission fiber (15') is connected to input (234) of optical compression element (238), which serves to temporarily compress laser pulses (410), and output (242) of compression element (238) is connected to spark gap (9).
EFFECT: higher reliability.
