SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the engineering industry, namely to methods for measuring the volume of containers, especially with cavities of complex configuration, technical products in the conditions of industrial production, during their operation and during experimental work. Task to solve which claimed invention is directed, is the reduction of complexity of measuring volumes process, increasing the productivity and accuracy of the measurement. In a method for determining a volume of a container, including a message of a controlled capacity with a calibrated capacity of a known volume, calibrated and controlled containers are filled with a gas, for example air, up to a certain any pressure, this pressure is measured, then the entire volume of gas from the calibrated container is introduced into the monitored vessel, the steady-state gas pressure in the monitored vessel is measured, and the desired volume of the monitored capacity is determined by the increased value of this pressure.

EFFECT: technical result providing the solution of this problem consists in reducing the number of operations in the process of measuring the volume of the tank and excluding special substances from the process, in simplifying the interconnection of functional and measuring operations and in replacing the principle of indirect measurement with a direct principle of measuring the capacity of a container.
