FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, to methods of measuring volumes of containers with cavities of complex configuration. Method of determining volume of container with gas includes communication of controlled container with more than one calibrated container of known volume, filling of controlled container with gas is performed simultaneously with filling of all calibrated containers, gas is fed from calibrated tanks into controlled tank one by one in compliance with certain sequence, which includes first introduction of entire volume of gas from one calibrated tank into controlled tank, measurement of steady-state gas pressure in the controlled tank, based on the increased value of this pressure, determining the desired volume of the controlled tank, then, the entire volume of gas is fed from another calibrated tank into the controlled tank, and the measurement and determination are similar to the previous one, and so on for all calibrated tanks.

EFFECT: development of technical means providing higher accuracy of determination of volume of tank, expansion of range of technological capabilities at determination of volume of various tanks.
