FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an oxychlorination method involving conversion of ethylene to 1,2-dichloroethane in the presence of a supported copper catalyst, which is obtained by (i) impregnating, at a first step, the alumina support with a first aqueous solution containing copper, additional transition metal, alkali metal and alkali-earth metal, so that first catalyst component is formed; and (ii) impregnating, in a subsequent step, first catalyst component with a second aqueous solution containing copper and an alkali-earth metal, where the second aqueous solution contains an alkali-earth metal and copper in molar ratio of more than 0.19, so as to form a catalyst on a support.
EFFECT: technical result is excellent degree of conversion of HCl and selectivity of 1,2-dichloroethane without catalyst agglomeration.
