SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for synchronizing or comparing time scales of remote objects by transmitting highly stable time signals using a fiber optic line connecting objects, and to the device for its implementation, consisting of two components located at distant objects from each other, and contains on the first object a time signal generator (time scale), an optical radiation generator, a fiber optic splitter, as well as a fiber-optic circulator and a polarizer or a mirror and a fiber-optic filter, at the second object there is a fiber optic circulator or a mirror, a fiber optic splitter, a photodetector device, an event timer, which uses a multi-step time meter, a time signal generator, and a personal computer.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing the accuracy of synchronization or comparing under various environmental conditions through the use of a three-pass time signal transmission system over the fiber optic line, multistop measuring interval meter, which allows to measure the arrival time of each pulse of the time signals of the first object in the time scale of the second object and determine the values of the delay times between any pairs of incoming pulses of time signals with an accuracy of 4 ps, and also due to the use of a polarizer, which makes it possible to eliminate the interference of the direct and reverse optical radiation, or by using mirrors that provide the transmission of simulated optical radiation from the second object to the first and the fiber optic filter (second option).
