FIELD: medicine; hygiene.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to oral hygiene means and use thereof. Disclosed composition contains: (i) flakes of a water-soluble film, comprising (a) a water-soluble cellulose polymer in the form of a polymer matrix, (b) a dye entrained or encapsulated in silica sol-gel, introduced into the polymer matrix, and (c) betaine, and (ii) an orally acceptable carrier, wherein the film flakes are plastic. Also disclosed is: a method for cleaning teeth, comprising cleaning with said composition, according to which teeth brushing is continued until the film releases almost the entire dye; thereby giving the user a colour signal about adequate cleaning time; and a method of providing stability to a dentifrice comprising a dye which comprises entraining said dye with a silica sol-gel and introducing said entrained dye into a film containing a cellulose polymer, and introducing said film into an orally acceptable carrier.

EFFECT: oral compositions of the invention are stable during storage, in particular, the dye is not substantially washed away, does not migrate and does not flow out of the film into the carrier during storage, but is released when it enters the oral cavity and provides a visible signal when used.
