SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to the field of oral hygiene products and methods of using them. Present tooth whitening composition for oral hygiene includes: (I) flakes of a water-soluble whitening film that includes (a) a film forming polymer containing hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, a viscosity of 2 % solution at 20 °C and 10 s^-1 which is 4–6 MPa⋅s, as measured using a Ubbelohde capillary viscometer; and (b) a pigment of blue or bluish-violet color, with a color tone in the CIELAB system ranging from 220 to 320 degrees; and (II) an orally acceptable carrier. And the particle size of the film flakes is such that more than 90 % of the particles pass through a 30–50 mesh filter. Method for temporary whitening of teeth is also provided, comprising applying an effective amount of the above composition to the oral cavity of a subject to which this is required.

EFFECT: use of a group of inventions ensures the effective deposition of said pigment on the surface of the teeth, which leads to an increase in whiteness of the teeth.
