SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a pharmaceutical gastro-retentive matrix tablet with controlled release of baclofen, which can be administered orally once or twice daily. Tablet of baclofen of the matrix type includes granules consisting of baclofen and mannitol. Tablet matrix includes a gelling agent, a gassing agent, and a super-disintegrant. Weight ratio of the amount of gelling agent to the amount of gassing agent is from 1:10 to 10:1. Tablet of baclofen does not contain sodium alginate. Tablet of baclofen is intended for use in the treatment of alcohol dependence or in maintaining a refusal to drink alcohol.

EFFECT: baclofen tablet according to the invention has good mechanical properties (hardness) while maintaining an acceptable tablet residence time in the stomach and allowing the maximum amount of the active ingredient of baclofen contained in the pharmaceutical composition to be released which is absorbed in the upper portion of the gastrointestinal tract.
