FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a lubricant for marine engines, in particular for cylinders, which has BN determined in accordance with ASTM D-2896, greater than or equal to 50 milligrams of potash per gram of lubricant, comprising: at least one lubricant base oil, at least one detergent based on alkali or alkaline earth metals, the basicity of which is increased with the use of salts of metal carbonates, at least one neutral detergent, a mixture of fatty amines that contains at least one fatty amine of formula (I) R1-[NR2(CH2)3]3-NH2, wherein: R1 represents a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl group which contains at least 14 carbon atoms, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or a group -(CH2)2OH, content by weight of the fatty amine of formula (I) is greater than or equal to 90% relative to the total weight of the fatty amine mixture, the fatty amine has a BN determined in accordance with ASTM D-2896 in the range of 150 to 600 milligrams of potassium per gram of amine, percentage by weight of the fatty amine relative to the total weight of the lubricant is selected so that the BN provided by this compound, represented a contribution of at least 10 milligrams of potash per gram of lubricant to the total BN of said lubricant for the cylinders and the percentage by weight of the overbased detergent relative to the total weight of the lubricant is selected so that BN provided by the metal carbonate salts, represented a contribution in the range of from 30 to 70 milligrams of potash per gram of lubricant to the total BN of said lubricant for the cylinders. Present invention also relates to the use of a lubricant for cylinders to prevent corrosion and/or reduce the formation of deposits of insoluble metal salts in two-stroke marine engines during the combustion of any type of fuel oil.
