FIELD: plasma technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to plasma technology, namely to hollow cathodes (cathode-compensators), working on gaseous working bodies, which are used in electro-reactive engines to neutralize ion flow, as well as in technological sources of plasma and as autonomous functioning source of plasma. In hollow cathode containing hollow capsule 1 with end walls 2, 3, inside which emitter 4 is placed, inlet channel of working body 5 and outlet 6, from side of inlet channel 5 between end wall 2 of hollow capsule 1 and emitter 4, in which at least one end screen 7 is installed, forming labyrinth passageway of working body. End screen 7 is preferably made of chemically passive material with respect to emitter 4. Surfaces of end screen 7 can be further coated with barrier layers. On end screen 7, remote stops 7a, 7b and holes 8 are additionally set.
EFFECT: technical result is increase in operation reliability of hollow cathode in low-flow mode.
