FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of plasma technology, namely hollow cathodes operating on gaseous working bodies and can be used in electrically reactive engines to neutralize the ion flow, as well as in technological plasma sources intended for ion-plasma treatment of surfaces of various materials in a vacuum, and also as an autonomous functioning plasma source. In the hollow cathode containing hollow capsule 1, where inside emitter 2 is placed, the inlet channel of working body 3, outlet 4 and starting electrode 5, on the output side of the starting electrode, there is cantilever screen 6 that extends to the emitter and forms axial gap 7 relative to the hollow capsule. Starting electrode 5 and console screen 6a are formed integrally. Console screen is preferably made of refractory metals or alloys based on them.
