FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to obtain samples for studying the properties of steels subjected to neutron irradiation, in particular the atomic reactor body. Electroslag remelting produces three identical electrodes of three different steels, including welded steel, steel for the welding electrode and steel to produce a surfacing layer. Resulting electrodes are cut diagonally into the same wedge elements. First composite electrode comprising two wedge elements made of welded steel and steel of the welding electrode is formed. First composite electrode is remelted by electroslag remelting into an intermediate ingot of variable composition and an electrode of variable composition is made of it. Cut the resulting electrode diagonally into the same wedge elements and connect them to wedge elements made of steel to produce a surfacing layer. Form two composite electrodes and remelt them by electroslag remelting into two ingots of variable composition.
EFFECT: method provides a steel sample for examining the interface zone of the welded steel, welded seam and welded steel protective layer having a uniform composition.
