FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises pouring fused metal 17 via pouring cups 6, 7, into cast mould 1 that accommodates pre-secured shaped stem 12 to be frozen in electrode. Fused metal flows via pouring system verticals 8, 9 into feeders 2, 3, 4 and additional feeder 14 arranged in freeze-in zone 13 to allows additional feed. Liquid slag 16 in fed onto fused metal surface 17 for replenishment by liquid metal 15 identical to that stem. Replenishment metal 15 is preheated to over fusion point of refractory oxides of alloying elements while rate of poring metal through slag is maintained equal to 0.05-0.15 m/s.
EFFECT: better weld seam between liquid high-alloy steel and metal of frozen-in stem.
